Many people are stuck at home these days due to the current outbreak of novel Coronavirus around the world. To eliminate boredom of staying at home, they keep finding ways to fill the extra time up. When it comes to time-killing activities, watching movies may probably be the first idea that pops up in many people’s mind. So, I would like to share my 3 favorite movies of all time in this blog post to provide you with some ideas on what to watch.
1. The Legend of 1900 (1998)
The movie is about a man who called 1900. He was found abandoned on the four-stacker ocean liner when he was a baby. He grew up in the ship and then became a renowned pianist. However, thinking that the outside world is too “big” for his imagination, he never left the vessel once in his whole life.
I personally think that one of the most memorable quotes from the movie is that “Land is a ship too big for me, it’s a woman too beautiful, it’s a voyage too long, perfume too strong…. It’s music I don’t know how to make. I can never get off this ship.” This inspiring movie really leads you deeply think about the fear of unknown and the world’s infinite dimensions.
2. The Truman Show (1998)
The main character Truman is the unsuspecting star of a reality show. The show broadcast live 24/7. However, Truman doesn’t know that he is being filmed and his entire life is a constructed ruse. The town that he lives is an enormous set created by the TV station, even his family, friends and colleagues are just actors. 5000 cameras are set in the town to record his every move. Truman starts realizing everything is fake due to unusual events and he tries his very best to leave the fake world that he has lived for over 30 years.
It is worth-watching not only because the movie theme is interesting and unusual, but also, it is thought-provoking. It tries to indicate the value of truth and tell the audience to examine their lives and always be true to ourselves. Watching this movie is just like having a spiritual journey.
3. Me Before You (2016)
This is a romantic love story of William, a paralyzed banker and his hired caregiverLouisa. It is a touching love story which absolutely make you cry. Though they fall in love with each other, William doesn’t change his mind on seeking a physician-assisted suicide as he cannot accept that he can no longer live an active life. The movie is outstanding from the other romantic movies as beyond love story, it discusses about the controversial issue of Euthanasia also.
